Screenflick version vs11/6/2023 This is an incredible computer even with the screen flaws. I could have kept swapping out with my Retailer (B&H) & even got a refund. That is why I feel confident, they will help in the end. They don't want to lose good Customers & have to admit, their Customer Service is Superior to any company I ever had to deal with. I feel is bending over bacward on this one. Most people would jump at the chance, including me. By being cautious, I basically returned the monitors to the original factory state of perfect alignment.Įivissa, Your Not A Fool! Your someone who knows what they want & needs. It also explains why my careful assembly and dis-assembly resulted in the yellowing disappearing. I don't know what Apple could do to solve this problem, other than a wholesale change of manufacturer for the panels, or a complete redesign of the panels themselves to better pin the diffusion layer. Rather, with the rough handling the monitors receive when shipped this layer gets knocked out of alignment. I believe these defects may not appear in the factory. This would be absolutely consistent with the reports of horizontal and vertical stripes (a vertical or horizontal kink) or corners (a bad tuck). It is this layer that I believe is at fault, and causes the color to drift and give the perception of yellow stripes, fields, and corners. To show a perfectly even color, this light scattering panel has to be absolutely flat and free of any warping, kinking, or thickness defects. I now am fairly certain that the yellowing of the display is a manufacturing defect involving the distance between a layer of material used to diffuse the LED backlight and the LCD panel. This post on another forum (Gizmodo) sounds very plausible to me: I have logged it with Tech Support Line and have a case ref number and will take it back in maybe 3 or 4 weeks time for a further swap. I believe that my first machine had a very slight case of it on the bottom edge, but there is no doubt about this one. However this machine Wk 03 definitely has yellow tinge - predominantly lower right hand corner. Purchased in Nov, took back to local Apple Store last week. I had a Wk 42 21.5" with high pitched whistle problem. Have already posted on other threads, but to ensure that it is recognised that there are 21.5" issues will repeat here.
